Autodesk Inc., a world leader in 3D design software for entertainment, natural resources, manufacturing, engineering, construction, and civil infrastructure, announced the launch of the first product developed through this acquisition, called Autodesk Advance Steel 2015. The BIM manufacturer had acquired technologies from Graitec, a structural engineering design solutions group.
The new software is expected to benefit structural steel detailers, fabricators, engineers and contractors with 3D modeling tools that support BIM processes.
Advance Steel will automatically generate shop and general arrangement drawings, create bills of materials and produce CNC files directly from designs, leading to quicker fabrication activities. Its interoperability with other variants by Autodesk and other BIM software products is expected to further the software’s effectiveness during design and construction stages.
Other features of Advance Steel include model view enhancements, flexible main settings’ management and improved documentation processes. Additionally, CNC data will be extended to complex parts, such as curved beams and poly beams to make Advance Steel a holistic BIM solution for the steel industry.
