梦幻般的FPS大作《虚幻2》给玩家带来了一片新的天地。这款大作使用了最新的技术，使得这款游戏表现的非常出色。从整体上与原作比较来看，这款续作带来的是一个全新的虚幻世界。
　　
《虚幻2》是一款第一人称射击游戏，多人游戏的增加，使得这款射击游戏更加迷人。另外同前作相比，新游戏的制作质量也大大提高了。无论是从视觉感受，还是动作表演来　　看，都会让人得到一种与众不同的感觉。多人游戏的操作也变得十分容易上手，同时也改变了以前那种慢悠悠的速度。增加了很多惹人喜爱的游戏模式，在本作中制作者创作了新的角色，而且这些角色也增加了很多新的特征，新的武器和更加酷的工具——交通工具。所有这些新的特征的增加，使得游戏变得更加具有吸引力。　

延续了前作，《虚幻2》(UnrealII)包含了一个发生在同样世界的里，但是主角换人了。玩家扮演一位被指派到银河系一个新殖民地区的殖民地军官，负责维护当地的安全，但是当玩家在这个地区上进行日常巡逻的时候，一场巨大的战争在6个外星种族间爆发，其中还涉及了一些佣兵和军事组织。玩家必须找出所有不同派系间冲突的原因。另外也有消息指异星人企图入侵地球人的外太空殖民地，有传说在地球人殖民区域内的7个行星上隐藏了一组蕴含神秘力量的史前神器，无论是谁，一旦拥有它们就会变得强大无比。玩家在保卫殖民地和平的同时，还必须保证这些神器不被邪恶的外星生物抢走。
　　
游戏总共有13个任务25个关卡，在展示的一些影片中我们可以看到一些另人感到不可思议的华丽场景：飞船升空，飞越了苍绿的峡谷，树木点缀著山坡一直远到地平线，涓涓细流以及由单个多边形草叶组成的草地，在游戏后期，玩家甚至会看到正在享用敌人尸体的小型生物。当然我们不否认这是制作小组”卖弄”的DEMO，但我们也可以了解这次新作里利用新的引擎在环境、图像、天气以及各种外星异想天开的场景设计中下的功夫。
