《Nexus: The Jupiter Incident》这款游戏其实就是《银河创世纪》的第三代，只是上市之路相当不顺遂，原先计划 2003 年中可以面市，但开发小组却集体跳槽离开原公司 Philos Labs，另组 Mithis Games，进度因此延宕；接下来发行商 CDV 又因财务危机取消该游戏的发售计划，直到 2004 年 9 月 VUG 表示将接手后续行销，玩家才有机会真正玩到这款作品。

故事发生在不久的将来，一股强大的外星势力入侵地球，给人类带来了毁灭性的灾难，最后只剩下一小部分人还在顽强地抵抗著，而他们必须从其他外星种族或是银河多国集团那里寻求援助。游戏中玩家扮演马奎斯·克伦威尔(Marcus Cromwell)，受雇于银河系殖民的的特大企业SpaceTech。表面上主要负责管理太空护卫舰探测雷达电子设备。实际上克伦威尔卷入了外星种族与人类残余力量的星系战争当中。在这场战争中，克伦威尔将通过各种策略最终达到恢复种族和平，伸张正义的目的。

在二代中有 3 个种族，分别是“太阳族”（Solarian）、“施那利族”（Shinari）和“卡拉肯族”（Kra’Han），但在三代中，这些种族都没有出现，游戏将以描述人类历史为主轴，意味著玩家们只能扮演人类，但研发小组会尽力将其他接触遭遇的外星种族做得细致深入，无论科技、社会秩序、生活方式、思考习惯以及智慧特征都将设计得科学合理。

游戏中的战斗全都发生在太空，而且都是即时的。游戏的玩法有点类似家园，但不同之处在于游戏不用建筑，也没有资源采集。而是纯粹的着眼于战斗和策略。游戏中共有 5 种战舰可以被自由操纵，玩家可以让它们以不同的速度前进，用不同的方法躲避攻击，或是采用不同的防御装置。游戏大大改善了人工智慧系统，玩家将发现外星种族的行为变得更加富有聪明，他们在与前两代游戏相同的情况下将作出完全不同的反应。由于战斗变得更加具有策略性，玩家就有机会通过操控和战术以少胜多。

《Nexus: The Jupiter Incident》在图像方面的进步也相当大，在视觉方面，将本作标榜为近年来最绚的游戏一点也不为过。《Nexus: The Jupiter Incident》使用的是先进Black Sun图像引擎，具备所有DirectX 9图型特效。真实再现了苍茫太空的氛围，而背景和操作介面采用全 3D 构图，完全不同于前作。目前游戏以单人为主，但是开发小组表示将会在游戏面世后考虑开发多人游戏部分。总之，作为一款太空类游戏，《Nexus: The Jupiter Incident》虽不是最好，但是更好。本作美仑美幻的科幻风格，强大游戏性，诸多的优点集于一身，值得一玩。
