《变形金刚：暗焰崛起》是动视前两款《变形金刚》系列游戏《塞伯坦之战》和《塞伯坦的陨落》的续作。本作游戏以搜寻“暗焰（Dark Spark，一个拥有强大力量的远古神器）”的过程为主线剧情。并且和前两作一样会同时展现博派和狂派两线的剧情，游戏方式也和《塞伯坦》系列一样具有快节奏和爽快的边跑边打的战斗体验。
