1950s and early 1960s R&B by DOLORES WARE, HONEY BROWN, BETTY JAMES and CHUBBY NEWSOME recorded for the Mercury, Wing, Chess, Derby, Club and Winley labels.
These recordings demonstrate the wealth of female talent that has since been overlooked, even lost, from the days when 78rpm shellacs were the order of the day – this package is the perfect introduction to these four singers who were popular club entertainers, whose contribution is now available for all to savour.
This is a timely release and finally gives these singers their chance to shine once more.
