The “Studio Concert” concept is no novelty for Katharina Maschmeyer and her quartet. The musicians recorded a studio concert record in the Bauer Studios in April 2015 (NLP4120). Two years later, they return to the Bauer Studios, this time with the legendary percussionist Nippy Noya as a guest.

The challenge is huge: the program consists of the reinterpretation of the unique and complex “A Love Supreme” suite by John Coltrane, which the Ka Ma Quartet has also released as the Studio CD 2016 on the label Neuklang.

A post-production is not possible, the artists must show their professionalism and their talents at the first attempt. An impressive concert, recorded again under the best quality conditions by sound engineer Philipp Heck with our Studer A 820 tape machine.
