《世界拉力锦标赛》系列前四部由Milestone制作，在BigBen Interactive获得WRC游戏版权后，新作《WRC5》交由一家法国制作公司Kylotonn Games开发。Kylotonn Games也是一家竞速游戏制作公司，之前的作品有《摩托车俱乐部》和《卡车赛车》。

《WRC5》将采用Kylotonn的Kt Engine HD开发，上面的预告片也展示了这款引擎带来的新特性。

Kylotonn表示《世界拉力锦标赛5》将有新的舞台，新的游戏模式和“新层次的真实度”。
