Karl Suske German violinist, born 1934 in Reichenberg/Liberec (Northern Bohemia). He’s the father of Conrad Suske. In the 1950s he became he became first concertmaster of the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig and member of the Gewandhaus Quartet. From 1962 to 1977 he was first concertmaster at the Staatsoper in Berlin, before returning to the Gewandhaus in Leipzig. He was also leader of the Suske Quartet founded in 1965 (later Berlin String Quartet).
