Description
Test automation is a method of using software programming to manage the test execution . Theprocess mainly includes: test automation feasibility analysis, appropriate tool selection, automation framework development, test scripts building, test execution and result analysis . Test automation requires minimal human resources and results in highest efficiency and resource-savings compared with manual test. By taking advantage of test tools and framework, testers can complete execution of basic test cases in a short time and thus realize Automotive system testing as early as possible. There are many scripting languages available in the Automotive industry for test automation which includes CAPL, C#, VB dot net and Python. As lot of ready made libraries available in python and its easy to use nature made it as a favorite choice for automotive test automation too. In this course we explore how to use python for the test automation in CANoe environment. CANoe provides COM API to interact with CANoe from external windows application. That concept is used to control CANoe measurement, CAN signals and System variables. In this course I use example CANoe configuration developed for course and python code provided by Vector as baseline. Additional modifications are included for python testcase development and report preparation.
