Bentley Systems Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of iTwin Analytical Synchronizer 2023 Update 1.3 (23.01.03.042) is the engineer’s gateway into the world of digital twins, interoperability, and collaboration. Notable changes in this release of iTwin Analytical Synchronizer include the addition of Tapered Walls, Load Combinations, and support for Tapered Members.
iTwin Analytical Synchronizer 2023 (23.01.03) Release Date: 15th December 2023
REVIT 2024
This update of iTwin Analytical Synchronizer incorporates the latest plugin to support REVIT 2024. The installed component is backwards compatible with REVIT 2022 and REVIT 2023. For Revit users, only one download and installation of iTwin Analytical Synchronzier is required, the latest plugin to support REVIT is already built in.
Tapered Walls
This update of iTwin Analytical Synchronizer includes API updates to support Tapered Wall object types. Previously, only walls of uniform thickness were supported. Now, retaining walls and in particular Water Treatment Structures with wall thicknesses that vary along the height of the wall can be represented and benefit from this data type addition.
Tapered Members
This update of iTwin Analytical Synchronizer includes update to represent Tapered Members in cloud workflows. This addition of Tapered members particularly benefits SACS/Offshore interactions with Bentley Infrastructure Cloud. Previously models with tapered members can only be viewed via File based workflows. Now, both File and Cloud base synchronization workflows involving models with Tapered members can be viewed in both iTwin Analytical Synchronzier and the web browser respectively.
Load Combinations
This update of iTwin Analytical Synchronizer includes API updates to support Load Combinations as first-class citizens (for Cloud based workflows). Previously, only primary load cases were supported, and required user’s manual duplication between applications.
Workflows involving multiple analysis applications with hundreds or thousands of load combinations (manual or auto-generated) will benefit from load combinations support, in that an analysis application downstream can reuse the load combinations defined in an upstream application without manual reentry. With this enhancement, in addition to the underlying structural design intent, loads, load cases and load combinations will all be transferred via cloud-based workflows. One example workflow that would benefit involves in-place structure and sea transportation structures utilizing both STAAD, SACS and iTwin Analytical Synchronizer where it is common practice to involve large number of load combinations.
Adhering to aggressive project schedules and reacting to layout changes are two common challenges that structural engineers face. The effort required to overcome either challenge often limits the time structural engineers can devote to thorough quality review of their documents or to coordinating their work with other disciplines. This can lead to numerous RFIs, cost overruns, and unhappy clients. To meet those challenges, structural engineers need tools that allow them to complete their work more efficiently and collaborate with project stakeholders more effectively. Bentley Systems iTwin Services, which are now integrated with the STAAD and RAM products, offer the solution. By taking advantage of iTwin features specifically designed for collaboration and change management, users can track changes, complete design reviews, and coordinate with team members directly from their structural models without switching to another application. This close integration between the STAAD and RAM products and the iTwin features limits disruption, increases productivity, and improves communication.
iTwin Analytical Synchronizer, formerly Structural Synchronizer, enables structural designers to share structural engineering information among different software applications. The Synchronizer functionality in the iTwin Services sidebar window collects the engineering information from the design application and stores it in a sync model, or iTwin, which can either be saved as a local file (*.ism, *.dgn) on the user’s machine or as a federated, cloud-based repository (iModel).
The following chart maps the applications that can be linked with iTwin Analytical Synchronizer. Note that the connected applications include Bentley Structural, Offshore, and Pipe Stress products (STAAD, RAM, SACS, and AutoPIPE), other Bentley analysis products like PLAXIS, specialized Bentley products like OpenBuildings Designer and ProStructures, and even third-party applications like Revit.
The iTwin Synchronizer allows you to take your first step in moving your Design Data into a Digital Twin. The iTwin Synchronizer pushes and synchronizes your Design Data to an iModel on the iModelHub.
