《魔法门7》是款什么样的游戏，只要是玩家，就绝对听说过这款已经延续了十数年的传奇故事吧？说起来《魔法门》系列最红的时候其实应该是当年的《魔法门3》和《魔法门外传》，其后的续集因为缺乏创新而逐渐被众多的后起之秀赶了过去。NWC大概也意识到这样下去不是个办法，因此在制作《魔法门6》时刻意的将人气回合战略游戏《魔法门英雄无敌2》的剧情和《魔法门6》连续了起来，讲述了继承权之战后发生在恩洛斯的故事。其后发行的《魔法门英雄无敌3》的故事当然是接续《魔法门6》的啦，这样两个系列相互缠绕，相互影响，最后终于导致了《魔法门7》这个庞大游戏的产生。大家都知道，《魔法门》系列一向是以庞大的世界观和高度自由的情节而著称的，而在《魔法门7》中这个特点又进一步升华成复杂的人际关系了。在这个全新的世界里，如何处理与周边人类，精灵，矮人和其他王国的关系完全取决于玩家在游戏中的所做所为。

在此游戏中，除了人类之外，玩者还可以选择精灵、矮人和恶鬼三个新种族，每个种族都有不同的特性和专长。这回您可以扮演小偷了（显然是设计小组已经意识到不能偷东西的美式RPG有点奇怪），此外还有游侠、僧侣等新的职业可以选择。而这些新设定除了增加玩者创造人物的乐趣外，还会实际影响玩者和游戏世界的互动。
