《红色管弦乐队：斯大林格勒英雄》是继《红色管弦乐队：东线41-45》(Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45)之后的第二部游戏，本作采用虚幻引擎3开发，自《东线41-45》发售之后就一直在开发，至今已有三年历史。

官方在宣布游戏的时候强调并不打算公布游戏的具体细节，如果有必要宣布游戏细节的时候会以官方公关稿的形式发表。

Tripwire宣布《红色管弦乐队2》（RO2）玩家及潜在用户将于本周迎来Steam周末免费试玩活动。届时Steam用户可自由下载并参与游戏。活动始于当地时间5月24号周四早十点（PST）。

而且，Tripwire准备将现有RO2版本统一免费升级为年度版，为RO2玩家增补一张新图（Mamayev Kurgan）并新添两种游戏模式（Action及Classic）；据说年度版还全面修正了游戏现有缺陷并做了大量改进及润色，这些改动基于玩家的反馈及社群意见。

Heroes of Stalingrad will focus on the Battle of Stalingrad and the surrounding operations, both German and Russian, from July 1942 to February 1943.
