Kevin Macpherson – Winter Escape

Plein Air painter Kevin Macpherson develops this large studio snow scene from several small studies. He discusses his thoughts on color and composition, in depth, as he enlarges the studies. Learn how he retains the freshness and simplicity of the small works on a large canvas. During the painting process Kevin pauses for self critiques and shares his impressions and goals with the viewer. He explains the logic of his limited palette: color harmony, warm and cool hues, value relationships and techniques of painterly painting. Listening and watching Kevin as he paints this large studio work is more informative than viewing a live demonstration. The multiple cameras follow the action in close up detail from palette to canvas.
