玩家可以扮演四种不同的职业角色，包括影子法师、通灵术士、流氓学者和神秘的科技法师。当玩家成功打败成片的怪物时，自身的魔法能力也会随之提升。游戏中有超过数百种提升技能，主要分为四大类：移动技能、被动技能、攻击技能以及可装备的符文。有了这些，你可以释放毁灭性的魔法攻击来消灭敌人，要注意的是，游戏属于永久死亡类型，只有一次生命而且不能自动回血，为了生存，玩家必须拼尽全力避免危险，什么男子汉一般的正面较量都滚开吧。
