《余火（Ember）》是N-Fusion Interactive制作的一款角色扮演游戏。原《火瀑》的创意总监、开发商Red 5的创始人Mark Kern在Change.org请愿网站上发起了一项调研，调查玩家对开发《火瀑》的精神续作《余火》的想法。根据请愿网站上的描述，Kern认为《火瀑》在后来开发中已经偏离了起初的愿景，所以希望能够把《余火》开发出来。
《余火》从制作表现了设计原则和内容，也是《火瀑》精神续作，任何战场中能够达到，一个能收集资源，通过打造自己的角色，在游戏还将会有剧情动态事件。
Kern提出《余火》有以下这些设计原则：
– 首先是射击，有着流畅的移动、多种枪械和技能，技能很重要；
– 通过大型、自动机器人收集资源、采矿。资源很重要而且发现、收集资源过程很有趣；
– 根据你的角色、需求自定义属于自己的战斗外套和武器系统；
– 沙盒世界。将行星地球化，建立可居住的区域：包括炼油厂、防卫塔和操作基地；
– 在拥有动态事件的模拟世界中游玩。去任何地方、做任何事，玩家身边总会发生一些事件，甚至可能是战争。
